US President Donald Trump has said he is preparing to make way for a new administration to take over the White House, while criticising his supporters for invading the US Capitol building.

Without mentioning incoming president Joe Biden by name, Trump said in a recorded address posted on his Twitter account on 8 January that it was time to “get on with the business of America”.
