Trump moves to stop stimulus talks until after election

'I have instructed my representatives to stop negotiating until after the election'

WASHINGTON—President Trump pulled the plug on ongoing bipartisan coronavirus relief talks, putting off efforts to send more federal aid to households and businesses at least until after Election Day, an abrupt move that jolted Wall Street and surprised lawmakers of both parties.

“I have instructed my representatives to stop negotiating until after the election when, immediately after I win, we will pass a major Stimulus Bill,” Trump wrote on 6 October on Twitter.
