US President Donald Trump has said he will not be attending President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration ceremony on 20 January, despite having promised a peaceful transition of power hours earlier.

“To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th,” he said in a tweet on 8 January.
