The star manager who runs Odey Asset Management’s largest hedge fund took a major stumble in the final weeks of 2017, reversing much of the gains he had made over the year.

James Hanbury's two hedge funds, which together manage assets of more than $800m, gained just 2% in total last year after incurring losses on his short book.
