One of the Square Mile’s essential commuter tube lines will be shutting down on Friday, as the government considers London lockdown measures to control the spread of Covid-19 and puts 20,000 troops on standby.

In an announcement released late on 18 March, Transport for London said the Waterloo & City Line would be closed from Friday as part of its coronavirus planning package.
