TUC hit out at final salary closures

Members of UK occupational schemes have lost out on over £4bn (€6.2bn) in contributions from company sponsors who have closed generous final salary pensions since 1995, according to estimates by the Trades Union Congress.

In the last seven years the number of members in final salary schemes, which guarantee a level of retirement for members but expose company sponsors to growing levels of financial risk, have fallen by two million, with this decline set to continue.
