Two lose out on Alcoa spoils

Citi and Goldman Sachs have lost out on fees from providing $30bn (€22bn) in financing and advice to Alcoa as the US aluminium company withdrew its bid for Canadian rival Alcan.

Alcoa's loan would have been the largest to finance an acquisition by a US company, according to investment banking research provider Dealogic.
