Two square up for $2.6bn Shire deal

The current and former corporate brokers to Shire are facing each other from opposite sides of the UK pharmaceuticals company's biggest deal in seven years, a $2.6bn (€2bn) takeover bid for a US rival.

Morgan Stanley has won its biggest mergers and acquisitions mandate from Shire, advising on its purchase of US company New River Pharmaceuticals, which is being advised by Merrill Lynch.
