U.K. Consumers Cheerier Ahead of Holidays as Budget, U.S. Election Jitters Fade

U.K. consumer confidence improved this month in a positive sign for household spending ahead of the vital end-of-year shopping season.

Research group GfK’s measure of consumer confidence climbed to minus 18 in November’s survey from minus 21 in October. That was a slightly sharper improvement than economists had expected, according to a poll compiled by The Wall Street Journal, and more than recovers October’s unexpected drop in sentiment.
