‘Flash crash’ trader can’t pay bail due to asset freeze

Judge denies request to waive £5 million bail required for Navinder Singh Sarao’s temporary freedom

The UK trader who allegedly contributed to the 2010 “flash crash” can’t pay his bail because of a US order to freeze his assets, his lawyer said Wednesday.

In a packed courtroom at Westminster Magistrates' Court in central London, Judge Elizabeth Roscoe denied the lawyer's request to waive the £5 million bail required for Navinder Singh Sarao's temporary freedom.
