UBS GAM slashes expenses amid weak environment

A cost-cutting drive helps asset management unit deliver a sharp rise in profits amid a weak business backdrop for fund managers

UBS Global Asset Management slashed the unit's expenses by 14% in the first three months of the year, compared to the same period last year, as it sought to keep costs down.
