UBS Global Asset Management has abolished the post of global chief investment officer following the decision of Jeffrey Diermeier to retire from the position in the near future.

UBS, like other large investment firms, has decided that it is impossible for a single individual to discharge complex global functions effectively. Gartmore also recently decided to split the role of its former investment chief, Peter Chambers.
