Sergio Ermotti, the new man in charge of UBS, wasted no time at the group's investor day conference in New York in reaffirming a focus on wealth management, but his plans to cut back the embattled investment banking division left many investors wanting more.

At the bank's investor day in New York yesterday, Ermotti began: "Our strategy is centred on our pre-eminent wealth management businesses and our universal bank in Switzerland."
