Gartmore Investment Management has selected UBS Warburg as prime broker for the first time to AlphaGen Avior Fund, its fifth hedge fund which is due to launch on November 1.

Prime brokers are the conduits through which most hedge funds access stock to support hedge fund strategies, as well as a plethora of other services. Until now Gartmore has used the prime brokerage services of Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley for its other four hedge funds.
