UBS targets fringe benefits in cost cutting drive

Grübel warns: The crisis is not yet over

Newly-appointed UBS chief executive Oswald Grübel has warned his staff will lose fringe benefits as part of a hair shirt regime designed address his bank's weak financial position.

At UBS' shareholders meeting, he warned: "Major cuts will be made in marketing, sponsorship, external consultants and support. We will also be cancelling certain employee benefits, above all at management level, which will result in significant savings."
