UBS, US reach 'agreement in principal' in bank suit

US Justice Department officials announced on Friday that they have reached an "agreement in principal" with Swiss banking giant UBS and the Swiss government in a high-stakes dispute over the US's efforts to obtain the identities of 52,000 American UBS clients who may have evaded taxes through secret accounts.

Court hearings in the case were scheduled to begin Monday in a federal court in Miami.
