Morgan Stanley has hired the former vice-chairman of securities in Japan from UBS, whose US securities business has been hit by the departure of three senior managing directors over the last week.

Tsunehiro Watabe, 62, has joined as vice-chairman of Morgan Stanley Japan Securities and a senior managing director in the US firm's investment banking business.
