UBS Warburg has helped steer Jefferson Smurfit to Ireland's largest ever takeover after two years of work to help the company get back on track.
UBS Warburg is corporate broker to Jefferson Smurfit, the Irish paper and packaging company, and has just acted as financial adviser to the company on its proposed €3.7bn ($3.5bn) takeover by Madison Dearborn Partners, the US private equity firm. The deal is Madison Dearborn's largest investment ever, and is also one of the largest European buyouts since British Telecommunications' directories group Yell was sold to Apax Partners and Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst for €3.3bn.
