A civil servant tasked with delivering asset managers' views to key policymakers in government has left his post, becoming the second such representative in Whitehall to do so in as many months.

Simon Girdlestone stepped down as ‎deputy director for assets, savings and consumers in the UK's Treasury department on December 22 for "a short career break", according to an internal memo seen by Financial News.
