UK auditing regulator mulls investigation into Thomas Cook collapse

The Financial Reporting Council could launch a probe following travel company’s liquidation

The audit industry watchdog is considering launching an investigation into the collapse of Thomas Cook following the 178-year-old travel company’s liquidation announcement yesterday.

On September 24, a spokesperson for the Financial Reporting Council said that “in light of recent developments at Thomas Cook” the auditing regulator is now “considering whether there is any case for investigation and enforcement action as a matter of urgency”.
