Principal Investment Management has hired John Green, former chief executive of James Capel Investment Management, as chairman, a newly created position.

The UK fund manager, based in Kent, has also hired Alan Beaney as head of investments. Beaney joins from Investec Asset Management, which was created from the merger of Guinness Flight, Hambros Bank and Investec.
