UK Chancellor Rishi Sunak has expanded the government’s job support scheme with new measures as of 1 November to help businesses forced to close due to Covid-19 restrictions.

The measures come as the UK sees a surge of Covid-19 cases, reporting more than 17,000 cases on 8 October, and the latest GDP figures showing a marked slowdown in the post-lockdown recovery in the summer.
