UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond on Tuesday presented fresh official forecasts for the UK economy, showing that growth in 2018 will be modestly higher than predicted late last year.

The upgrade largely reflects stronger than expected global growth as major economies enjoy a rare, synchronised upswing. But officials cautioned that higher interest rates, poor productivity growth and uncertainty linked to Brexit will likely weigh on growth in the years ahead.
