UK escapes worst of staff drought

A survey shows that continental firms are having problems with a shortage of fund managers

A shortage of fund managers continues to affect the UK's fund management industry. A recent survey by the search firm Falcon Executive found that more than half UK fund management firms do not deny that staff shortages are a problem. The survey also highlighted a number of significant contrasts which exist between firms in the UK and mainland Europe.

The survey, which focused on larger firms managing over $10bn (€10.6bn), suggests that staff shortages are a greater problem on the Continent, where firms were found to be more lacking in staff able to use advanced tools such as derivatives.
