UK fast tracks pay regulations

The UK government has surprised companies by pressing ahead with the rapid implementation of new regulations giving shareholders an annual vote on executive pay, writes Kit Bingham.

Jon Edis-Bates, of the company secretarial consultancy Edis-Bates Associates, says: "I'm surprised it's going through so quickly. Maybe there's pressure on [the Department of Trade and Industry] to follow up on Enron."
