UK Finance urges clawback on tax breaks if firms ditch London IPO

A host of City grandees noted several challenges for City IPOs in recent months, including anaemic domestic pension investment and a lack of retail participation in stocks

The government should look at financial penalties if firms decide to list outside the UK, an influential trade body has argued, in one of the strongest proposals yet in the fight to keep IPOs in the City.

UK Finance said that while companies need more help to access UK capital markets, "we think that the quid pro quo for greater support should be set out clearly".
