UK fintechs sign up to post-Brexit global outreach programme

The minister for investment at the Department for International Trade says Brexit creates a 'spur to look internationally more than before'

The UK government has signed up 20 fintech companies for two flagship outreach programmes with Australia and Hong Kong, as it admits the sector will face greater “friction” in EU trade after Brexit.

The new pilot programmes build on existing agreements with the Australian and Hong Kong governments, but unlike previous arrangements, 10 fintech companies have now signed up to each accord.
