UK firms play board games

BT is leading the way in evaluating its directors' performance

UK companies are experimenting with how to conduct board performance evaluations. The Higgs review recommended that companies carry these out and, while the implementation of the UK report on directorships is debated, companies are tackling this relatively new area.

Caroline Phillips, policy director at the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, which launched a board evaluation service last year, says: "Companies are taking time to look at board evaluation. There's a good deal of thinking and discussion about it."
