The UK asset management industry failed to grow in 2018, as fund managers battled substantial outflows and falling profits — problems that have persisted in 2019.

According to the annual “state of the industry” report from the Investment Association, the trade body that represents the UK’s asset management sector, assets managed by member companies stood at £7.7tn at the end of last year. This was unchanged from the previous year.
