UK fund managers get first sustainable investment standards

UK financial services firms acknowledge they need to adapt to counter climate change risk, but have been slow to take action

The national body responsible for setting standards of excellence has published a framework to help asset managers embed responsible and sustainable investment practices across their organisations.

The framework, which has been developed in conjunction with the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and a steering group comprised of some of the largest UK financial services players, sets out five key principles of sustainable investment. These include investment processes, investor rights and responsibilities, as well as governance and culture.
