A trustee at one UK pension scheme managed to evade a fine for breaches in pensions regulations by arguing that he had not known he was a trustee in the first place.
The Occupational Pensions Regulatory Authority (OPRA) said it had not fined the trustee, who, along with two colleagues, was charged with failing to appoint a scheme auditor, implement member-nominated trustee arrangements, set up an internal dispute resolutions procedure, and obtain a minimum funding valuation.
