UK regulator fines Prudential over compensation delays

Prudential, the UK assurance company, has been fined £650,000 (€1.04m) by the Personal Investment Authority (PIA), one of the largest fines ever imposed by the regulatory body on a UK institution.

PIA imposed the fine as punishment for Prudential's delays in making compensation payments to supplement personal pensions of retired policyholders, as well as to beneficiaries of policyholders who died.
