UK sees retail sales uptick for fourth month in a row

The Confederation of British Industry said nearly half the UK firms it surveyed plan to reduce hiring or not hire at all over the next year

UK retail sales logged a fourth straight monthly rise in August, the Office for National Statistics reported on 18 September.

Retail sales volumes rose 0.8% between July and August and a rise of 4% on February’s pre-pandemic level.
