UK Treasury criticised over efficiency target disclosure

A parliamentary committee has criticised the UK Treasury for failing to provide sufficient detail on plans to deliver £30m (€39m) in efficiency savings over the next three years and has called on the government to pass oversight of the efficiency drive from the Treasury itself to the Cabinet Office.

The latest volley of criticism of the Treasury comes days ahead of Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling's first budget speech on Wednesday.
