UK underlines opposition to EU bonus cap

The UK government's response to the Parliamentary Commission on Banking Standards revealed a hard-line view on the EU's planned bonus cap

The UK government this week underlined its opposition to proposals for a European Union-wide bonus cap in its response to the Parliamentary Commission on Banking Standards final report.

In its written response to the report this week, the government said that proposals on pay contained in the Capital Requirements Directive, known as CRD IV, were made "without any impact assessment or underpinning evidence".
