UK watchdog ‘maintaining pressure’ on Wirecard

A number of fintech firms have been affected by the regulator’s decision to shut down Wirecard’s UK operation

The Financial Conduct Authority says it is “maintaining pressure” on Wirecard’s UK operation to fix its problems after the regulator suspended its operations last week.

“We are maintaining pressure on the firm to resolve these issues which would allow it to operate under certain conditions,” said the FCA, in a statement published on 29 June. “However, we cannot lift the restrictions without reassuring ourselves that the firm has been able to satisfy all our concerns for example that all clients’ money is safe,” it added.
