Unicredit chief executive Jean Pierre Mustier to step down

Mustier said that his plans to transform the bank by 2023 were no longer in keeping with the board's ambitions

Jean Pierre Mustier, the chief executive of Unicredit who has been linked with numerous top jobs in banking over the past two years, is stepping down from his role.

The 59-year-old Frenchman who has been at the helm of Italy's largest lender by assets since July 2016, will leave the bank in April next year, Unicredit said in a statement.
