UniCredit net profit down on lower net fees and commissions

UniCredit today said its second-quarter net profit was down 10% on lower fees and commissions, but it reiterated that it didn't have additional net write-downs in its asset-backed portfolio in the quarter.

The Milan-based lender said second-quarter net profit was €1.87bn ($2.9bn), from a pro-forma €2.08bn in the same quarter of 2007.
