US analysts downgrade Wall Street

Wall Street analysts have issued blanket downgrades on their own industry in the past fortnight, adding to the already widespread gloom about the securities industry's prospects this year.

At the same time, the Securities Industry Association (SIA) has said that industry revenues will be down by more than 20% this year compared to 2001. It warned that a "double-dip" recession in the US could delay any recovery in the industry until 2004.
