US investment banks are lobbying the UK government in order to be granted a controversial rule change that would make it easier for them to operate from London after Brexit.

A Goldman Sachs-led coalition of financial firms have been “beating down the door” of the Treasury, according to a person familiar with the matter, to be allowed to continue providing some investment banking services to key European Union clients once Britain leaves the bloc.
