The US Congress has ratified Joe Biden's Electoral College victory as the next President of the United States after pro-Donald Trump rioters overwhelmed police and tried to derail the process.

US lawmakers sealed the Democratic president-elect's victory following a round of fending off expected objections to the country's 3 November election raised by a small cohort of Republicans on behalf of Donald Trump.
