US considers removing stricter regulatory oversight of AIG

US officials are mulling whether to remove the "systemically important" label from American International Group that subjects it to stricter regulatory oversight, according to people familiar with the matter.

The Financial Stability Oversight Council, a group of senior regulators, is set to discuss the matter today, Ryan Tracy and Leslie Scism write for The Wall Street Journal. No decision has yet been made, the people said. It is possible a decision will be delayed until a future meeting.
