US derivatives regulator gives six months grace on swap rules

The regulator of the US derivatives markets has granted swaps dealers a six-month "grace period" before they will be punished for failing to comply with new collateral rules coming into force in March.

The rules will force those trading in the swaps markets to exchange collateral that covers daily movements in open contracts.
