The US equity markets are to reopen on Monday morning, less than a week after the devastating terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, provided that systems tests over the weekend are successful.

Representatives of the main brokerage houses reached an agreement with the Securities and Exchange Commission and the major stock exchanges on the timing for the restart following meetings on Thursday.
