Europe outlines differences with US over derivatives rules

While regulators in the US and the European Union are hopeful that they will reach agreement over clearing rules, fundamental differences remain over default protection, according to one of the most senior figures at Europe's market watchdog.

Verena Ross, executive director at the European Securities and Markets Authority, outlined the disagreement with the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission in a speech at the Financial Industry Association Europe's Annual International Derivatives Expo in London on Tuesday.
