US financial chiefs demand separation of research and banking

More than 70% of chief financial officers of US corporations believe that equity research should be legally separated from investment banking, according to a new survey.

The survey by CFO magazine, will add to the growing pressure on investment banks from US securities regulators and the US Congress to separate research and banking, in what would be the biggest overhaul of the securities industry since the 1930s.
