US funds hiring new managers at 'unprecedented' rate

US pension schemes are hiring new investment managers "at an unprecedented rate" in pursuit of extra returns to plug their funding gaps, according to research group Greenwich Associates.

Rodger Smith, consultant at Greenwich, said: "US funds are opening the doors to new managers and looking for fresh insights and ideas to a greater extent than we've seen in 30 years."
