Take-up of index-based products is slower in Europe

US investors are adopting second-generation credit derivative index-based products marketed by investment banks faster than their European counterparts.

A US investment grade credit default swap (CDS) index launched last month by 11 investment banks is proving popular, and dealers are marketing tranched products and options based on it.
