US loan market keeps up pace in third quarter

The US syndicated loan market continued to defy the economic downturn during the third quarter, while the European market shrunk significantly.

Banks in the US market arranged $377bn (€412.3bn) during the third quarter to take the total for the year to just short of $1 trillion. The market is marginally ahead of the total at the end of last year's third quarter, $983bn.
