US manufacturer calls in the PPF

The UK pension scheme of Ohio-based manufacturer Dana Corporation is to close, and the trustees are in talks over whether it should join the three company funds that have so far been transferred to the Pension Protection Fund, the government's pensions safety net.

In a communication to scheme members, the trustees said the step had been taken because there was no viable option "that included both a solvent company and a solvent pension scheme".
